The purpose of this randomized study was to evaluate the early effect of the treatment of acute acoustic trauma (AAT) with steroids and piracetam in a sample of 52 young soldiers who were exposed to intense gunfire noise (G3 rifle). These patients were divided into three groups: (1) group A (20 patients) in which the treatment began within the first hour after the AAT, (2) group B (17 patients) in which the treatment started more than 1 h later and less than 16 h after the AAT and (3) group C…

TLDR
The success rate of combined HBO2 and steroid therapy was very low in this study, however, early initiation of treatment results in better outcomes and Protective measures have great importance in preventing AAT.
A Study on the Effectiveness of Treatment of Acoustic Trauma Caused by Gunshot Noise
TLDR
Evaluated steroid treatment in acoustic trauma caused by rifles showed a possible effectiveness of treatment of acoustic trauma on the recovery of high frequency hearing when started within 3 days, and speech-frequency seems to recover spontaneously within3 days.
A Prospective Study to Elucidate the Efficacy of 4 Oral Prednisolone Regimens in Acute Acoustic Trauma
TLDR
There was no statistically significant difference in hearing gain between groups 3 and 4, so there was no additional advantage of giving 60 mg oral prednisolone for more than 10 days, and the best oral predisonsolone regimen recommended is 60 mg/day for 10 days which is tapered over the next 5 days.
Factors Associated With the Benefits of Concurrent Administration of Intratympanic Steroid Injection With Oral Steroids in Patients With Acute Acoustic Trauma.
TLDR
The importance of early treatment onset for maximizing the benefits of concurrent administration of intratympanic steroid injection and oral steroids in patients with acute acoustic trauma incurred during military training is demonstrated.
Comparison of Long-Term Outcome of Intratympanic Dexamethasone Therapy between Acute Noise-Induced Tinnitus and Acute Idiopathic Tinnitus.
TLDR
The long-term outcome in terms of control of tinnitus with ITD in the ANT group was similar to that in the AIT group, suggesting ITD injection may be a useful treatment option for acute tinnitis caused by noise trauma.
Effects of Oxygen Therapies in Experimental Acute Acoustic Trauma
TLDR
Because there is a high rate of spontaneous recovery, physicians should be more selective to treat patients with oxygen therapies, and the influence of normobaric oxygen therapy on the recovery of acute acoustic trauma is investigated.
Differences between acoustic trauma and other types of acute noise-induced hearing loss in terms of treatment and hearing prognosis
TLDR
Hearing recovery from AT is very poor, whereas, ANIHL is recoverable to some extent, therefore, it is essential to differentiate between these two groups for accurate prediction of the hearing prognosis and evaluation of treatment effects.

TLDR
Treatment modalities identified were steroids, vascular agents, nootropics, antioxidants, vitamins, cell apoptosis inhibitors, and hyperbaric oxygen therapy, with significant improvement in mean hearing threshold for patients with high-frequency hearing loss, those treated within 48 hours, and those receiving treatment with a nootropic agent.
Effects of Explosive Blast Trauma on Sleep Quality and Quality of Lives of the Workers in Ammunition Factory
TLDR
It may be concluded that acute explosive acoustic trauma may affect negatively some items of sleep quality and quality of the lives of the workers.
Pharmacological agents used for treatment and prevention in noise-induced hearing loss
TLDR
Current pharmacological protection and treatment options in the light of the literature are discussed, since no extensive reviews have been performed to date, including agents used for protection against and treatment of noise-induced hearing loss.

TLDR
The files of 268 patients with acute acoustic trauma acquired during military service were analysed in a retrospective study and the influence of age, profession, degree of hearing loss, audiometric contour, and drug treatment could be detected.
The effect of methylprednisolone on acoustic trauma.
TLDR
The present results indicate that mPSL possesses a therapeutic effect in cases of mild acoustic overstimulation.
Efficiency of hyperbaric oxygen therapy in experimental acute acoustic trauma from firearms.
TLDR
Exposure to impulse noise caused permanent damage to the cochlea of all animals, with the most severe lesions in the lower middle coil, where a significantly smaller number of hair cells was missing in the HBO-treated group.
Therapeutic Time Window of Methylprednisolone in Acoustic Injury
TLDR
It is suggested that methylprednisolone possesses protective effects against acoustic injury of the cochlea with a short therapeutic time window.
Treatment of Acoustic Trauma
TLDR
The first results indicate that in some animals the recovery of the threshold shifts are complete despite the fact that significant areas of hair cells are damaged.

TLDR
A unilateral hearing protection device was enough to protect hearing from gunfire noise and can effectively prevent a potential firearm accident that can be caused by trainees mishearing the instruction of a firearm instructor if both earplugs are worn.

Successful Treatment of Noise‐Induced Cochlear Ischemia, Hypoxia, and Hearing Loss
TLDR
Not only did the CAPs and ABRs completely recover, the CMs also showed significant improvement, although full recovery did not occur, and a sustained therapeutic effect on noise‐induced cochlear ischemia was achieved only by HES, HBO+HES, and pentoxifylline.
The influence of ischemia upon the energy reserves of inner ear tissues
TLDR
The metabolic rate is by far the highest in the stria vascularis, intermediate in ganglion spirale and cochlear nerve and lowest in the organ of Corti and vestibular structures, and there is no correlation between the total energy reserve and the initial energy use rates.
