Placental tissues were obtained from women in Taiwan who had ingested rice oil contaminated with aromatic polychlorinated hydrocarbons 3-4 years before conception. Known contaminants in the rice oil were polychlorinated biphenyls and their thermal degradation products, including polychlorinated dibenzofurans and polychlorinated quaterphenyls.
