The cellular localization of the dopaminergic D2 receptor (D2R) mRNA and protein was determined during postnatal development, from birth to 35 days, in the rat neostriatum by in situ hybridization histochemistry and immunohistochemistry. To localize and identify more precisely the morphology of cells expressing the D2R mRNA, nonradioactive, digoxigenin in situ hybridization was performed.
