The overlap in clinical phenomenology and morbidity between post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and such conditions as major depression, anxiety disorders and aggression, in which a serotonin dysfunction is implicated, suggests a role for serotonin in the pathophysiology of PTSD.
