Metallic, oxygen-deficient compounds in the Ba−La−Cu−O system, with the composition BaxLa5−xCu5O5(3−y) have been prepared in polycrystalline form. Samples withx=1 and 0.75,y>0, annealed below 900°C under reducing conditions, consist of three phases, one of them a perovskite-like mixed-valent copper compound. Upon cooling, the samples show a linear decrease in resistivity, then an approximately logarithmic increase, interpreted as a beginning of localization. Finally an abrupt decrease by up to…

Photoemission on the highTc superconductors Y−Ba−Cu−O

XPS and UPS photoemission experiments on the highTc superconductors (Tc≈90 K) with nominal composition YBa2Cu3O9-y (y≈2) show the following:a)The density of electronic states at the Fermi energy is

Suppression of superconductivity in layered Bi4O4S3 by Ag doping

AbstractWe report X-ray diffraction, magnetization and transport measurements for polycrystalline samples of the new layered superconductor Bi4−xAgxO4S3 (0 ≤ x ≤ 0.2). The superconducting transition

Superconductivity in the (Yba2Cu3)1−xNaxO7−δ System

The (YBa2Cu3)1−xNaxO7–δ system in the range of x= 0–0.8 was investigated. Experimental data suggest that the sodium doping with x 0.26 does not affect the critical transition temperature Tc, and the

Superconductivity in the Hypervalent Compound Ba2Bi(Sb1−xBix)2 with a Square-Honeycomb Lattice

We studied the structural and physical properties of the hypervalent system Ba2Bi(Sb1−xBix)2 (0 ≤ x ≤ 1) with an anisotropic “square–honeycomb” layer. We found that the orthorhombic Ba2BiSb2 (x = 0)

Possibility of insulator to superconductor phase transition

2014 A phase diagram is postulated where the ground-state of a strongly coupled electron-phonon system is a bipolaronic insulator beyond a critical coupling strength. This opens up the possibility of

Two-Band Superconductivity in Nb-Doped SrTi O 3

Tunneling measurements have been performed on Nb-doped and reduced superconducting SrTi${\mathrm{O}}_{3}$. Beyond a certain carrier concentration, when a second conduction band gets filled, a

Observation of Grain Boundary Josephson Current in BaPb0.7Bi0.3O3 Films

The grain boundaries of superconducting BaPb0.7Bi0.3O3 sputtered thin films were found to work as tunnelling barriers and to result in the Josephson effect. The current-voltage characteristics of the

Preparation of Superconducting BaPb1-xBixO3 Thin Films by RF Sputtering

Superconducting BaPb1-xBixO3 thin films were successfully prepared by RF diode sputtering with a relatively high deposition rate of 50–120 Å/min and subsequent heat treatments. Their superconducting

Inhomogeneous superconducting transitions in granular Al

Granular Al films have been measured in a microwave cavity at 9.4 GHz together with their dc resistance, R(T). The change in resonant frequency is proportional to the number of superconducting

Electronic- and crystal-structure effects on superconductivity in the BaPb/sub 1-x/Bi/sub x/O/sub 3/ system

Self-consistent, scalar-relativistic, linear-augmented-plane-wave electronic-structure calculations have been carried out for the
