The functions of interhemispheric axons linking the borders between cortical areas 17 and 18 on the two sides of the brain were investigated by two techniques. A well-matched sample of neurones was recorded in the 17/18 border region before and after an extensive lesion was made in the corresponding part of the other hemisphere.
