2, 3, 7, 8-Tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD) has been shown to inhibit uroporphyrinogen decarboxylase activity resulting in chronic hepatic porphyria. From a cross-sectional study of 170 workers in chemical industry 68 showed elevated coproporphyrin levels, interpreted as secondary coproporphyrinuria.
