Population parameters of small pelagic fishes caught off Tawi-Tawi, Philippines.

title={Population parameters of small pelagic fishes caught off Tawi-Tawi, Philippines.},
  author={Izura Aripin and P.A.T. Showers},
Growth and mortality parameters, exploitation rates and annual recruitment patterns were estimated from monthly length-frequency samples for Sardinella longiceps, S. fimbriata, S. albella, Decapterus macrosoma, Dipterygonatus balteatus, Rastrelliger faughni and Encrasicolina heteroloba. These results provide the first sets of stock parameter estimates for these species off Tawi-Tawi, Philippines. The growth parameters derived were found comparable with previous estimates available for the same…

Population Parameters of Common Small Pelagic Fishes Caught by Ringnet in Manila Bay, Philippines
The growth and mortality parameters, exploitation ratios, and annual recruitment patterns of sardines ( Sardinella gibbosa and Sardinella fimbriata ) and mackerel ( Rastrelliger brachysoma ) caught
Population Parameters of Shortfin scad Decapterus macrosoma (Bleeker, 1851) in Antique, Philippines
Growth, mortality, exploitation rate, and recruitment of Decapterus macrosoma in the waters off Antique province, Philippines, were investigated based on the length-frequency data collected from
Population parameters and exploitation rate of two dominant fish species in Tovè River (Southern Benin)
Rational measures must be taken to effectively manage for exploitation of these 2 stocks particularly the one of S. schall, which was slightly above the assumed optimum value.
Population Dynamics and Fishery of Roughear Scad Decapterus tabl Berry 1968 (Perciformes: Carangidae) in Camotes Sea, Central Philippines
Population dynamics and fishery status of the roughear scad, Decapterus tabl Berry 1968 caught from Camotes Sea, Central Philippines were investigated and results of the length-length relationships (LLRs) were highly correlated.
Preliminary estimates of the population parameters of major fish species in Lake Ayamé I (Bia basin; Côte d’Ivoire)
Summary Length frequency data collected from artisanal fisheries in Lake Ayame I (Cote d’Ivoire) from August 2004 to 2005 were analysed with Fisat software using the Elefan package to estimate the
Age and growth of Decapterus russelli and D. macrosoma along Karnataka coast, India
Derapterus spp. popularly known as scads form an important component of the pelagic fishery resource along Karnataka coast. Their contribution to the total fish catch increased from 2% during 80's to
Population structure of Sind sardinella Sardinella sindensis (Day, 1878) in northern Persian Gulf and Oman Sea, Iran
The population dynamics of Sardinella sindensis (Day, 1878) was studied from samples in the commercial fishery in the coastal waters of the Persian Gulf and Oman Sea. A total of 12,898 specimens
Combining insights into reproduction and gear selectivity to enhance management advice for Encrasicholina heteroloba (Engraulidae) in the west coast of Sri Lanka
The gillnet selectivity study revealed that the optimum length (Lopt) and selection range of E. heteroloba varied with mesh sizes and estimated Lopt for 1.8 cm mesh gill nets as a higher percentages of immature individuals are landed when smaller mesh sizes are landed.
Age, growth and mortality of the anchovy Stolephorus commersonnii (Lacepède,1803) (Clupeiformes) caught off the coast of Tanga, Tanzania
The stock of anchovy indicates an overfishing scenario requiring management intervention such as reducing fishing effort levels, increasing mesh sizes and introducing seasonal closures during peak spawning periods.
Growth, mortality and exploitation rate of Sardinella longiceps (Valenciennes, 1847) from Pakistani waters based on length frequency distribution data
The computer software FiSAT package was used to analyze the growth and mortality parameters of S. longiceps. Length weight relationship parameters of both sexes combined were at W= 0.0179xb (R =

Seasonal growth of five commercially important fishes at Sofala Bank, Mozambique
An analysis of growth of scad and mackerels on Sofala Bank, Mozambique, was performed using data collected from commercial vessels during the year 1986-87, using the "Compleat Elefan" software
Reproduction, age and growth of the round scad Decapterus macrosoma Blecker 1851, Carangidae from Mozambique
The species is caught in the same areas as D. russellii, but appears in lower quantities, and males and females seem to grow at the same rate.
Population dynamics of indian oil sardine, Sardinella longiceps, off the southwest coast of India
Based on length frequency data, the growth and mortality parameters were derived for the stock of Indian oil sardine, Sardinella longiceps, off the southwest coast of India and the maximum sustainable yield was estimated around 45 × 109 in numbers and 300,000 tonnes in weight.
Age and growth of four Sardinella species from Sri Lanka
An assessment of the exploited pelagic fisheries of the Indian seas
A critical assessment of each of the exploited pelagic resources has been made in this paper in order to estimate the probable magnitude of potential yields from them.
Biometrics of Sardinella longiceps Val. in relation to upwelling in the Gulf of Aden
Growth, size composition, condition factor and gonad index of the oil sardine, Sardinella longiceps Val., oscillated over an annual cycle in relation to upwelling. Growth in length was modelled using
On improving the resolution of the recruitment patterns of fishes
It is proposed that the "recruitment pattern" routine of the ELEFAN II program can be modified to allow, in addition to length-frequency data, the use of "restructured" data files, which results in recruitment patterns that have less temporal spread and hence better reflect the actual seasonality of recruitment.
The oil sardine fishery at Karwar showed erratic fluctuations during the years of study, and a good fishery season seems related to the temperature range of 27-29.5°C, lower salinity and a low phosphate content in the water.
On the interrelationships between natural mortality, growth parameters, and mean environmental temperature in 175 fish stocks
A compilation of values for the exponential coefficient of natural mortality (M) is given for 175 different stocks of fish distributed in 84 species, hath freshwater and marine, and ranging from
