Infectious bronchitis virus (IBV), strain Beaudette, grown in cultured cells contained five structural proteins with apparent mol. wt. of 170 000 (p170), 94 000 (gp94), 50 000 (pp50) 30 000 (gp30) and 26 000 (p26). Both gp94 and gp30 are glycopeptides since they were labelled with [3H]glucosamine. The only phosphorylated polypeptide was pp50, and both it and gp94 were occasionally resolved into two bands. Two other polypeptides with mol. wt. of 28 000 (p28) and 14 000 (p14) were sometimes… Expand
Structural analysis of virion proteins of the avian coronavirus infectious bronchitis virus
TLDR
Two-dimensional tryptic peptide mapping showed that GP36, GP31, GP28, and P23 comprise a group of closely related proteins which the authors have designated the "P23 family," but that the other proteins are distinct. Expand
Identification of a 17000 molecular weight antigenic polypeptide in transmissible gastroenteritis virus-infected cells.
TLDR
TGEV-primed porcine lymphocytes, secondarily stimulated in vitro with sucrose gradient-purified virus, produced antibody only to the two glycoproteins (gp) indicating that the 17K polypeptide is not a surface feature of the virion. Expand
Protein pI alteration related to strain variation of infectious bronchitis virus, an avian Coronavirus
TLDR
It appears that altered pathogenicity of strains of IBV may be detected by alteration of pI of the proteins, which allows untypeable, highly pathogenic or persistent strains of these viruses to be characterized on the basis of variant proteins. Expand
Coronavirus proteins: biogenesis of avian infectious bronchitis virus virion proteins
TLDR
It is found that the nucleocapsid protein, P51, and the small viral membrane proteins GP31, GP28, and P23 do not undergo post-translational proteolytic processing, but GP90 and GP84, the two large virion membrane proteins, were found to be produced by cleavage of a single precursor, GP155, demonstrating that at least one coronavirus mRNA specifies two virion proteins. Expand
Coronavirus multiplication: locations of genes for virion proteins on the avian infectious bronchitis virus genome
TLDR
A model in which only the unique 5'-terminal domain of each IBV mRNA is active in translation and enabled us to localize genes for virion proteins on the IBV genome is supported. Expand
The virion N protein of infectious bronchitis virus is more phosphorylated than the N protein from infected cell lysates
TLDR
32P-orthophosphate labeling and Western blot analyses confirmed that N was the only viral protein that was phosphorylated in the virion, as well as at all times during infection in either chicken embryo kidney cells or Vero cells. Expand
Coronavirus IBV: further evidence that the surface projections are associated with two glycopolypeptides.

The surface projections (peplomers) of avian infectious bronchitis virus (IBV) strain M41 have been separated from the nucleocapsid (N) and matrix (M) proteins by sedimentation in a sucrose gradientExpand
Association of the infectious bronchitis virus 3c protein with the virion envelope
TLDR
Results suggest strongly that 3c represents a new virion envelope protein, which may have counterparts in other coronaviruses. Expand
Antigenic domains on the peplomer protein of avian infectious bronchitis virus: correlation with biological functions.
TLDR
Monoclonal antibodies directed against structural proteins of infectious bronchitis virus were produced to analyse the antigenic structure of this virus and the biological activities of the MAbs were determined and correlated to the epitope clusters. Expand
Transmissible gastroenteritis virus : genome and messenger RNA sequence
The genetic structure of the pathogenic Miller strain of transmissible gastoenteritis virus (TGEV) was studied at the molecular level. Subgenomic RNAs 6 and 7 and the 3’ 7.3 kb of the viral genomeExpand

Polypeptides of the surface projections and the ribonucleoprotein of avian infectious bronchitis virus
TLDR

The genome of the coronaviruses is a single continuous chain of about 23,000 mononucleotides that is of messenger polarity that was confirmed by RNase T1 fingerprinting and indicated that IBV RNA is haploid. Expand
