PURPOSE Accumulative evidence suggests that folate has a protective effect on gastric cancer. The methylenetetrahydrofolate dehydrogenase (MTHFD) plays an important role in folate and homocysteine metabolisms, and polymorphisms of MTHFD may result in disturbance of the folate-mediated homocysteine pathway.
