Cylindrical polymer brushes from PSSE and PSSD have been synthesized by a 'grafting from' approach by ATRP in solution. Starting from macroinitiators with 570 and 1600 repeat units, and 10-100% reactive site density, PSSD brushes with 10-40% grafting density and PSSE brushes with 10-100% grafting density are obtained. The brushes have been characterized by 'H NMR spectroscopy, GPC-MALLS, analytical ultracentrifugation, AFM, and TEM.
Polymerization of Styrene Sulfonate Ethyl Ester by ATRP: Synthesis and Characterization of Macromonomers for Suzuki Polycondensation
Macromonomers from SSE were synthesized via ATRP with initiators carrying functional groups that are polymerizable by Suzuki polycondensation. The material obtained had a monomodal molar mass
Direct Synthesis of Poly(potassium 3-sulfopropyl methacrylate) Cylindrical Polymer Brushes via ATRP Using a Supramolecular Complex With Crown Ether.
TLDR
Cleavage of the side chains and further analysis reveal that the initiating efficiency of the polymerization is as low as 0.35, which solved the problem of the solubilities of the incompatible hydrophobic poly-initiator and hydrophilic ionic monomer.
Synthesis of ω-sulfonated polystyrene via reversible addition fragmentation chain transfer polymerization and postpolymerization modification
The synthesis of chain-end sulfonated polystyrene [PS (ω-sulfonated PS)] by reversible addition fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization followed by postpolymerization modification was
Synthesis of Michael Acceptor Ionomers of Poly(4-Sulfonated Styrene-co-Poly(Ethylene Glycol) Methyl Ether Acrylate).
TLDR
Well-defined copolymers of pPEGA-co-4SS were produced with molecular weights ranging from 10 kDa to 40 kDa and polydispersity indices (PDIs) of 1.06-1.18 by gel permeation chromatography against monodisperse poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) standards.
Synthesis and polymerization of substituted ammonium sulfonate monomers for advanced materials applications.
TLDR
Sulfonated polymers with substituted ammonium counterions are useful polymers for obtaining unique material properties, such as organo-gelation of low polarity solvents or obtaining ionic liquidpolymers for the fabrication of solid polymer electrolytes.
Incorporation of poly(2‐acrylamido‐2‐methyl‐N‐propanesulfonic acid) segments into block and brush copolymers by ATRP
2-Acrylamido-2-methyl-N-propanesulfonic acid (AMPSA) was successfully polymerized via atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) using a copper chloride/2,2'-bipyridine (bpy) catalyst complex after
