Long-term optical and near-infrared photometric and blue spectroscopic observations were obtained for QS Telescopii, V834 Centauri, and BL Hydri. The optical light curves of all three polars displayed large magnitude changes during our observations. These same high-state and low-state transitions were also apparent in near-infrared JHK photometry, although with decreased amplitude. The color of the polar with respect to its state was examined and found not to be a good indicator of the… Expand

A spectroscopic, photometric, polarimetric, and radio study of the eclipsing polar UZ Fornacis: the first simultaneous SALT and MeerKAT observations
We present phase-resolved spectroscopy, photometry and circular spectropolarimetry of the eclipsing polar UZ Fornacis. Doppler tomography of the strongest emission lines using the inside-outExpand
XMM-Newton observations of the X-ray soft polar QS Telescopii
Context. On the basis of XMM-Newton observations, we investigate the energy balance of selected magnetic cataclysmic variables, which have shown an extreme soft-to-hard X-ray flux ratio in the ROSATExpand
SPITZER SPACE TELESCOPE OBSERVATIONS OF MAGNETIC CATACLYSMIC VARIABLES: POSSIBILITIES FOR THE PRESENCE OF DUST IN POLARS
We present Spitzer photometry of six short-period polars, EF Eri, V347 Pav, VV Pup, V834 Cen, GG Leo, and MR Ser. We have combined the Spitzer IRAC (3.6-8.0 μm) data with the 2MASS JHK_s photometryExpand
ULTRAVIOLET SPECTROSCOPY OF BL Hyi AND EF Eri IN HIGH AND INTERMEDIATE STATES
We present the first phase-resolved ultraviolet spectroscopy of two polar systems, BL Hyi and EF Eri, in high and intermediate states from the International Ultraviolet Explorer (IUE) during theExpand
Mass Determination and Detection of the Onset of Chromospheric Activity for the Substellar Object in EF Eridani
EF Eri is a magnetic cataclysmic variable that has been in a low accretion state for the past 9 yr. Low-state optical spectra reveal the underlying Zeeman-split white dwarf absorption lines. TheseExpand
The magnetic cataclysmic variable LSQ1725-64
We present new photometry and spectroscopy of the 94m eclipsing binary LSQ1725-64 that provide insight into the fundamental parameters and evolutionary state of this system. We confirm thatExpand
Phase-resolved X-ray spectroscopy and spectral energy distribution of the X-ray soft polar RS Caeli
RS Cae is the third target in our series of XMM-Newton observations of soft X-ray-dominated polars. Our observational campaign aims to better understand and describe the multiwavelength data, theExpand
Multi-line Doppler imaging of MR Ser in high-state
Doppler images in Balmer, HeI, HeII and CII lines, and simultaneous I-band photometry of the polar MR Ser are presented and analyzed. The Balmer and Helium Doppler tomograms of this bright polar atExpand
A new absolute magnitude calibration with 2MASS for cataclysmic variables
Using reliable trigonometric measurements, we find that the absolute magnitude of cataclysmic variables depends on the orbital period and de-reddened (J −H)0 and (H −Ks)0 colours of 2MASS (Two MicronExpand
