BACKGROUND The authors describe a new photoscreening camera designed to detect amblyogenic factors, including strabismus, asymmetric and abnormal refractive errors, and media opacities. The photoscreener uses eccentric photorefraction principles and provides two meridian photographs of the retinal reflex.
