Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) is a complex process which leads to destruction of neuronal tissue and also vascular structure. Recent many studies have shown erythropoietin (EPO) has neuro-protective effects in acute SCI animal models. Alzheimer’s disease (AD), Parkinson’s disease (PD) and SCI belong to central nervous system diseases, a few studies also indicated that EPO may be effective for AD and PD.
