In southeastern Idaho, extensive gravel deposits occur on alluvial fans and along major streams. Gravel deposits of late Pleistocene age occur in each drainage; older gravel deposits form terraces or are buried by the younger gravels. Ages of these deposits are estimated from stratigraphic relations to glacial deposits, sequence relations, degree of soil development, thickness of carbonate coats on stones in soils, thickness and stratigraphy of loess mantles, and radiometric ages.
