The relationship between platelets indices and gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) has not been studied widely. The association between mean platelet volume (MPV) and HbA1c as glycemic control marker has been investigated in few studies. The study aimed to compare the platelets indices in pregnant women with and without GDM, to evaluate the relationship between MPV and HbA1c. Case-control study was conducted on 100 Sudanese pregnant women aged above 17 years with a singleton pregnancy at 16… Expand

Hb A1cin Pregnancy
TLDR
The Joint Commission on Biochemical Nomenclature has proposed that the term ‘glycation’ is appropriate for any reaction that links a sugar to a protein, or in the particular case of a reaction with haemoglobin, the term’s value represents the glycaemic status of a person over the last two to three months. The relationship between glycemic control and platelet activity in type 2 diabetes mellitus.
TLDR
The results suggested a close relationship between poor glycemic control and increased platelet activity in patients with type 2 DM, which may prevent the possible role of platelets in cardiovascular events in these patients. Expand
Elevated mean platelet volume is associated with gestational diabetes mellitus
TLDR
The results indicate that MPV is increased in GDM, which is widely available in clinical practice, and may potentially identify women who will develop gestational diabetes during pregnancy. Expand
The mean platelet volume in gestational diabetes
TLDR
There is a need for further research focusing on the platelet function in the observation and treatment of gestational diabetes, which can pose the risk of developing Type 2 diabetes for the mother and has negative consequences for the fetus. Expand
Changing of Hemoglobin A1c Affects Mean Platelet Volume in Type-2 Diabetes Mellitus
TLDR
A positive correlation between MPV and HbA1c levels was found and the level of SG decreased, and MPV level reduced to 8.68, similar to CG. Expand
Evaluation of Platelets Count and Indices in Pre-Eclampsia Compared to Normal Pregnancies
TLDR
Platelet indices of MPV, PDW and P-LCR increases in PE in comparison to normal pregnancy Key is found that MPV(P; 0.02), PDW (P;0.03) and P -LCR (P) of PE group was significantly higher than normal group. Expand
The mean platelet volume in subjects with impaired fasting glucose
TLDR
The data suggests one possible mechanism by which subjects with IFG may be at increased cardiovascular risk, and MPV and platelet mass were positively correlated with fasting glucose and HbA1c in diabetic and IFG groups. Expand
Impaired platelet function in neonates born to mothers with diabetes or hypertension during pregnancy.
TLDR
Maternal PIH or GD is associated with impaired platelet function in neonates, and the clinical impact of these findings is yet to be studied. Expand
Mean platelet volume in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus
TLDR
Clearly, whole blood MPV methods, are ideal for the prediction of vascular risk in contrast to the slower (research) technique that requires the preparation of PRP, but the resolution of whole blood techniques appears to be poor. Expand
Investigation of platelets count and indices in coronary artery diseases among Sudanese patients
Platelets play a key role in initiation of atherosclerosis and formation of coronary thrombus in coronary artery diseases (CAD). Active platelets are large in size and have a higher potentialExpand
Soluble P-selectin and CD40L levels in subjects with prediabetes, diabetes mellitus, and metabolic syndrome--the Chennai Urban Rural Epidemiology Study.
TLDR
It is demonstrated that increased levels of sP-selectin and sCD40L are seen in Asian Indian subjects with IGT, type 2 diabetes mellitus, MS, and insulin resistance. Expand
