In order to investigate the neuroplasticity of the peripheral sympathetic nervous system innervating the cerebral blood vessels, we observed and traced the sprouting nerve fibers originating in the contralateral superior cervical ganglion (SCG) into the previously denervated cerebral arteries following unilateral excision of the SCG and/or decentralization of the contralateral SCG in young rats (4 weeks old).
