During strong-field multiphoton ionization, a wave packet is formed each time the laser field passes its maximum value. Within the first laser period after ionization there is a significant probability that the electron will return to the vicinity of the ion with very high kinetic energy. High-harmonic generation, multiphoton two-electron ejection, and very high energy above-threshold-ionization electrons are all conssequences of this electron-ion interaction. One important parameter which…

Two-electron ionization in strong laser fields below intensity threshold: Signatures of attosecond timing in correlated spectra

We develop an analytical model of correlated two-electron ionization in strong infrared laser fields. The model includes all relevant interactions between the electrons, the laser field, and the

On the mechanism of strong-field double photoionization in the helium atom

We perform time-dependent quantum calculations on the ionization dynamics of helium in intense ultrashort laser fields. A linear model of the atom is used to extract single- and double-ionization

Few cycle dynamics of multiphoton double ionization.

The yield of Ne(2+) relative to Ne(+) with 12 fs pulses to be clearly less compared to 50 fs pulses in qualitative agreement with the theoretical model.

Multiphoton stimulated bremsstrahlung for broad (in the momentum representation) electron wave packets in an ultrashort laser pulse field

We consider features of absorption and emission of external laser field quanta by a broad (in the momentum representation) electron wave packet during its scattering from a potential center. Various

On the recollision-free excitation of krypton during ultrafast multi-electron tunnel ionization

The probability of multiple ionization of krypton by 50 femtosecond circularly polarized laser pulses, independent of the optical focal geometry, has been obtained for the first time. The excellent

Recollision during the High Laser Intensity Ionization of C60.

Through C60, we address the role of electron recollision in the nonresonant, femtosecond laser ionization of large, highly polarizable molecules. We show how the electron trajectories are influenced

Harmonic generation during the ionization of a thin target irradiated by a strong laser field

By means of a particle-in-cell simulation we study the effect of time-dependent tunneling ionization in the harmonics generated during the formation of a plasma when a laser field impinges on a solid

Multiple fragmentation of atoms in femtosecond laser pulses

Multiple ionization of atoms by an ultrashort intense laser pulse is a process in which the few-body problem is closely interrelated with the highly nonlinear interaction between the electrons and

Time analysis of above-threshold ionization in extreme-ultraviolet laser pulses: a three-dimensional study

The ab initio investigation of ionization shows the strong regularization of the Coulomb potential by a high-frequency laser field in the stabilization regime, which is characterized with a large

Imaging of valence shell dynamics using intense laser pulses

Electron correlation is one of the main frontiers of modern science and of fundamental importance to such diverse fields as, e.g., many body systems, superconductivity and quantum computing. At the
