BACKGROUND Emerging evidence suggests a possible role of lycopene in the primary prevention of cardiovascular disease (CVD). OBJECTIVE We examined whether plasma lycopene concentrations in the Physicians' Health Study were associated with CVD in a prospective, nested, case-control design.
