OBJECTIVES Hypercholesterolaemia is associated with increased plasma levels of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and interleukin-8 (IL-8). We studied the effect of rosuvastatin monotherapy or its combination at a lower dose with omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (ω-3 PUFAs) in the VEGF and IL-8 plasma levels in patients with mixed dyslipidaemia. METHODS Fifty patients with mixed dyslipidaemia were recruited. Fifty-five normolipidaemic, apparently healthy, ageand sex- matched…

Significant Decrease in Plasma Levels of D-Dimer, Interleukin-8, and Interleukin-12 After a 12-Month Treatment with Rosuvastatin in HIV-Infected Patients Under Antiretroviral Therapy.
TLDR
It is shown that a 12-month treatment with rosuvastatin associated with an effective cART can significantly decrease the plasma levels of D-dimer, IL-8, and IL-12, and suggest a potential role for this statin to reduce activated coagulation and systemic inflammation among HIV-infected persons.
Anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory effects of rosuvastatin in patients with low-to-moderate cardiovascular risk
TLDR
The aim of this study was to evaluate the inflammatory/immunomodulatory properties of rosuvastatin in subjects at low-to-moderate cardiovascular risk, and to suggest the need for routine monitoring of growth factor levels, especially in patients on long-term statin therapy.
The Role of the VEGF Family in Coronary Heart Disease
TLDR
The aim of this review article is to present an overview of the available evidence supporting the VEGF family for treating CHD and give hints for further research.
