Abstract Ostracod samples were taken from coastal waters of the South Shetland Islands (King George and Elephant) northeast of the Antarctic Peninsula. The population structure of the planktonic ostracods in the upper 200-m water column is described. In total 77 samples were taken quantitatively by RMT-1 hauls predominantly containing Alacia hettacra, A. belgicae and Metaconchoecia isocheira. The dominance of A2, A1 and adult stages supports Kock's conclusion of an upward-directed ontogenetic…

Annual variability of planktonic ostracods (Crustacea) in the South Adriatic Sea
TLDR
The presence of the mesopelagic species indicated a strong influence of intermediate layer water masses from the Eastern Mediterranean Sea and the females surpassed the males in abundance in most species.
Planktonic ostracods abundance in the deep Adriatic Sea
TLDR
Planktonic ostracod abundance was investigated in the South Adriatic Sea in the vertical layers at the station 1000 m deep in March 1998 and October 2001, and the dominant ones were Porroecia spinirostris and Archiconchoecia striata.
Distribution and population structure of pelagic Ostracoda near the sea−ice edge in the Scotia Sea and off the King George Island (December 1988 - January 1989)
TLDR
Four Ostracoda species belonging to one family, Halocyprididae, were found in plankton material collected from the Scotia Sea and off the King George Island during the austral summer 1988/1989 and confirmed that the three above−mentioned endemic species were most abundant in the mesopelagial.
