During the studies on fouling diatoms in Zuary estuary the overlying surface diatoms were also studied for comparison. In all 66 spp. of planktonic diatoms have been recorded, belonging to 29 genera. Out of these, 36 species (16 genera) were Pennales and 30 (13 genera) Centrales. The common diatoms observed were Chaetoceros borealis, C. decipiens, Biddulphia regia, B. sinensis, Coscinodiscus conscinnus, C. subtilis, C. grani, Navicula inflexa, N. oblonga, Amphora turgida, A. ovalis, Nitzschia…

Seasonal and Spatial Variation in Diatoms Abundance and Composition in different Water Bodies of Haryana, India
Haryana is located in the northern plains of India making it very hot in summers and extremely cold in winters. In present study, seasonal and spatial variation in diatom abundance and composition in
Seasonal variation in diatoms in response to physico-chemical characteristics of coastal waters of Uttara Kannada district, West Coast of India
TLDR
The physicochemical parameters like temperature, salinity, conductivity and nutrients were found to influence the occurrence of diatoms and the physico-chemical parameters studied showed noticeable seasonal variations.
Diversity and composition of phytoplankton around Jaitapur coast, Maharashtra, India
TLDR
The average phytoplankton density was observed to be highest during post-monsoon at inshore as well as offshore stations, and a massive bloom of cyanobacteria Trichodesmium erythraeum was also sighted during the winter season.
Ecology and Diversity of Diatoms in Kuttanadu Paddy Fields in Relation to Soil Regions, Seasons and Paddy-Growth-Stages
This assessment of ecology and diversity of Diatoms in Kuttanadu , is continuation of the previous publications of Green-algae and Blue-green-algae of the same region; all the three investigations
Phytoplankton species assemblages and their relationship to hydrographic factors—a study at the old port in Mangalore, coastal Arabian Sea.
TLDR
The stage of the tides may have implication on the sampling, because it has an influence on species diversity and the proportion of specific microalgal groups, and generally the Chl a concentrations were also lower during low tide.
SEASONAL ABUNDANCE AND MORPHOLOGICAL OBSERVATIONS OF A RAPHID PENNATE DIATOM ASTERIONELLA GLACIALIS CASTRACANE FROM THE COASTAL WATERS OF KARACHI, PAKISTAN
TLDR
Asterionella glacialis is a raphid pennate diatom species known to form blooms in various regions including Pakistani waters and its seasonal abundance and detailed morphological data were missing from coastal waters of Pakistan to fill the gap of knowledge.
Bloom of the diatom, Biddulphia sp. and ecology of Pulicat lagoon, Southeast India in the aftermath of the 2015 north east monsoonal rainfall
TLDR
Results show a bloom of Biddulphia pulchella, B. biddulphiana and B. laevis in association with Cladophora in LC zone which serves as potential indicators of physico-chemical characteristics of the lagoon showing intense response to catastrophic events of floods due to above normal monsoon variability.
Assessment of Hydrochemical Characters Variations in Relation to Phytoplankton during Pre-monsoon at J-point of Mahi Estuary, Gujarat, India
TLDR
All the three sites of Mahi estuary are organically polluted as per the Palmer’s species diversity indices, according to the pre-monsoon period.
Studies on the diversity of phytoplankton in the Muthupet estuary south east coast of India
The composition and diversity of phytoplankton was studied in the Muthupet estuary, southeast coast of India. A total of 14 species of phytoplankton were recorded. Out of which, 11 were diatoms, 2
First record of Planktoniella sol (Wallich) Schütt, 1893 from Turkish coasts
Planktoniella sol is reported for the first time from Turkish coasts. The specimen was collected on 6 June 2001 with a 55 μm plankton net from subsurface (0.5 m) neritic waters with a depth of 30 m,
