Electrogastrography (EGG) is a noninvasive method to study gastric myoelectrical activity in humans. Because frequency characteristics are the most reliable parameters and visual analysis of the EGG recordings is notoriously difficult, automated frequency analysis, especially running spectrum analysis, is often used.
