A field experiment was conducted for two years (2008-2009 and 2009-2010 cropping seasons) at the National Root Crops Research Institute Sub-station, Otobi and at the Teaching and Research Farm of the University of Agriculture, Makurdi in Benue State, all located in Southern Guinea Savanna of Nigeria.
