Robust data transmission over long ranges with standard ultrasound devices is a challenge. Ultrasound indoor positioning systems in particular require long ranges and a robust data communication link. Fundamentally, a piezoelectric transducer has a narrow bandwidth for high sound pressure level and efficiency and is not suitable for broad-band applications.
