The hemicryptophytic, chamaephytic and therophytic communities which inhabit the fixed sand dunes of the N-Adriatic coast, along with those of the interdunal wetlands, have been studied from the phytosociological point of view. The floristic-sociological analysis focuses on the syntaxonomic discussion of the xerophilous communities; in this context, the following new syntaxa have been described: Syntrichio ruraliformis-Lomelosion argenteae, Tortulo-Scabiosetum typicum and Sileno conicae…
Coastal dune vegetation in central Campania : an insight on the Natural Reserve “ Foce Sele-Tanagro ”
In Italy there is a long tradition of vegetation survey with hundreds of vegetation relevés widespread throughout the Italian coastline. However, there are still some poorly investigated areas, such
Ecological drivers of plant diversity patterns in remnants coastal sand dune ecosystems along the northern Adriatic coastline
Coastal sand dunes represent one of the most fragile ecosystems in the Mediterranean basin. These habitats naturally suffer the action of several limiting factors such as sand burial, marine aerosol
Syntaxonomy of the vegetation of National Nature Park Dzharylhatskyi. Classes Cakiletea maritimae and Ammophiletea
The papers aims to clarify the syntaxonomic structure of communities of the halo-nitrophylous and annual vegetation within the coastal line of National Nature Park Dzharylhatskyi. Vegetation is
Biogeographic variability of coastal perennial grasslands at the European scale
Question: Coastal environments have often been described as azonal. While this characteristic is clear for the foredune system, it seems less evident for more inland fixed dunes, which host habitats
Classification of European and Mediterranean coastal dune vegetation
Aims: Although many phytosociological studies have provided detailed local and regional descriptions of coastal dune vegetation, a unified classification of this vegetation in Europe and the
Vegetation of Europe: hierarchical floristic classification system of vascular plant, bryophyte, lichen, and algal communities
TLDR
This paper features the first comprehensive and critical account of European syntaxa and synthesizes more than 100 yr of classification effort by European phytosociologists.
Plant communities of Italy: The Vegetation Prodrome
TLDR
The Prodrome that is presented in this paper is the first full organic synthesis of the vegetation of Italy at the alliance syntaxonomic level and fulfils several needs, the main one being a unified and comprehensive national framework that may make an important contribution to the definition of the European Vegetationprodrome.
The response of plant community diversity to alien invasion: evidence from a sand dune time series
TLDR
An overall significant decline of species richness over the last six decades was revealed and the severity of the impact was found to be determined by a combination of species attributes, habitat properties, and human disturbance suggesting that alien species should be referred to as “passengers” and not as ‘drivers’ of ecosystem change.
Habitat quality assessment through a multifaceted approach : the case of the habitat 2130 * in Italy
Sand dune perennial grasslands are valuable coastal habitats, considered among those with major conservation concerns. The priority EU habitat 2130* has an almost continuous distribution area along
