ABSTRACT Oliveira SN, Follmer B, Moraes MA, Santos JOL, Bezerra ES, Goncalves HJC, Rossato M. Physiological Profiles of North Brazilian Mixed Martial Artists (MMA). JEPonline 2015;18(1):56-61. The aim of this study was to characterize the anthropometric, physiological, and performance profile of a group of North Brazilian MMA athletes. Eighteen experienced male athletes (age 27.89 ± 5.92 yrs) were evaluated. The assessment consisted of: (a) body composition by the air displacement…

Anthropometric and Physiological Profile of Mixed Martial Art Athletes: A Brief Review
The main findings of this review suggested an overall profile of low body fat, high flexibility, muscle strength, muscle endurance, and anaerobic power, and average cardiovascular endurance.
Developing a Comprehensive Testing Battery for Mixed Martial Arts.
Results showed the testing battery in this study was realistic and able to be completed by the participants without issue and that regional Australian MMA athletes were similar physiologically to elite standard compared with previous research taken from a range of sources.
Sexual Dimorphism in Physical Fitness Parameters of Competitive Adolescent Taekwondo Athletes
Abstract The aim of this study was to determine gender-related differences in physical fitness parameters of adolescent competitive taekwondo athletes. Subjects were members of the National Taekwondo
Physical and Training Characteristics of Mixed Martial Arts Athletes: Systematic Review
The purpose of the review was to analysis physical and training CHARACTERISTICS of MMA athletes through a systematic review.

Physical fitness and anthropometrical profile of the Brazilian male judo team.
The main conclusions are: (1) the physical variables measured do not discriminate performance when analysis is directed to the best athletes; (2) a higher percent body fat is negatively correlated with performance in activities with body mass locomotion (Cooper test and the SJFT); and (3) judo players with higher aerobic power performed better in high-intensity intermittent exercise.
Physiological Characters in Mixed Martial Arts
The results were interpreted to indicate either the MMA athletes had reached the physiological requirements for MMA or the one year physical training was inefficient in further improving the parameters.
Perfil morfológico de atletas de elite de Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
It can be concluded that athletes from this sport showed higher body mass during the preparatory period than in competitive conditions, however, they showed low body fat, high muscle mass percentage and predominant mesomorphic component.
Avaliação da força de preensão palmar em atletas de jiu-jitsu de nível competitivo
Jiu-Jitsu athletes do not present high values of palmar grip strength, being that the jiu-jitsu practice suggests that occur physiological causes alterations characterized by the increase of the ability of resistance in the movement of prehension.
Physiological, Performance, and Nutritional Profile of the Brazilian Olympic Wushu (Kung-Fu) Team
Low body fat, high flexibility, leg anaerobic power, isometric strength, and moderately high arm anaer aerobic power seem to be important for successful competitive performance in Olympic Wushu.
Perfil de Força de Preensão Palmar em Atletas de Karatê-dô Estilo Shotokan e Indivíduos não Atletas
A greater uniformity was perceived between the HGS means for the right and left hand in Karate Do athletes and non athletes, suggesting that Karate-do contributes uniformly to strength stimulation of the left and right hemibodies.
Physiological factors in middleweight boxing performance.
Data suggest that there are two basic factors related to boxing performance: physical fitness as indicated by individual anaerobic threshold and maximal oxygen consumption, and upper-body muscular strength as indicatedby hand-grip strength.
Determination of Taekwondo National Team Selection Criterions by Measuring Physical and Physiological Parameters
The aims of this study were to establish the physic al and physiological attributes of elite and subelite Turkish male and female taekwondo players and to determine whether these attributes
A Review of Time-Motion Analysis and Combat Development in Mixed Martial Arts Matches at Regional Level Tournaments
This study quantified the effort-pause ratio (EP), and classified effort segments of stand-up or groundwork development to identify the number of actions performed per round in MMA matches, reflecting the combination of ground and standup techniques.
