Physico chemical and biological characteristics of of paper effluent from the paper mills of Nilakot ai Dindigul(Dt), TamilNadu, were analyzed from Nov 2010 to Apr 2011 in terms of pH,colour, odour, temperatur e EC,TDS,BOD,COD,Na,Ca and Mg. All the parameters wer e found to be higher than the WHO prescribed discha rge limits for effluent.

Toxicity of rubber wood processing effluent exposed to fresh water fish Poecilia reticulata
TLDR
Mortality was observed in a dose dependant manner and it is recommended that the effluent should be properly treated before being discharged into the environment. Expand
Assessment of phytokinetic removal of pollutants of paper mill effluent using water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes [Mart.] Solms)
TLDR
E. crassipes was recorded to be feasible for the removal of different pollutants of paper mill effluent, responsible for the eutrophication of the aquatic resources. Expand
Occurrence, removal and health risk assessment of phthalate esters in the process streams of two different wastewater treatment plants in Lagos and Ogun States, Nigeria
TLDR
The usage of effluent-polluted river water by local communities downstream may result in carcinogenic effects due to the cumulative effects of the PE congeners as the values obtained for adults and children for the ingestion and dermal routes for the two waste process streams ranged from 4.67E−06 (IWWTP) to 6.18E−05 (COP), respectively.
