Indiscriminate and wasteful water consumption and improper waste disposal practices have led to deterioration in the water quality be it surface or ground water. Shahpura is an in-land urban surface water body which is fed by Bhopal city waste water and effluent from adjoining Shahpura and Chunabhatti townships thereby converted into a polluted lake.
