Guihaiothamnus (Rubiaceae) is an enigmatic, monotypic genus endemic to southwestern China. Its generic status has never been doubted because it is morphologically unique by having rosette habit, showy, long-corolla-tubed flowers, and multi-seeded indehiscent berry-like fruits. The genus has been postulated to be a relict in the broad-leaved forests of China, and to be related to the genus Wendlandia, which was placed in the subfamily Cinchonoideae and recently classified in the tribe Augusteae… Expand
Phylogenetic estimation and morphological evolution of Alsineae (Caryophyllaceae) shed new insight into the taxonomic status of the genus Pseudocerastium
TLDR
The generic name Pseudocerastium is reduced here as a new synonym of Cerastium and the species P. stellarioides is transferred to Cerastia as C. jiuhuashanense. Expand
Evolution of sexual systems and growth habit in Mussaenda (Rubiaceae): Insights into the evolutionary pathways of dioecy.
TLDR
Study of the evolution of sexual systems and growth habit in Mussaenda (Rubiaceae) using a robust phylogeny of the genus based on eight plastid regions and a broad sampling of taxa to assess evolutionary correlations between dioecy and climbing habit and their respective influences on diversification rates. Expand
Stillingia : A newly recorded genus of Euphorbiaceae from China
TLDR
The distribution of the genus in China is apparently narrow, known only from Pingzhou and Wanzhou Islands of the Wanshan Archipelago in the South China Sea, which is close to the Pearl River estuary. Expand

Molecular phylogenetic analysis of the tribe Alberteae (Rubiaceae), with description of a new genus, Razafimandimbisonia
TLDR
The genus Alberta is found to be paraphyletic as presently circumscribed and the new genus Razafimandimbisonia Kainul is proposed by C. & B. Bremer to accommodate the Malagasy species. Expand
Phylogenetic Placement of Rhopalobrachium fragrans (Rubiaceae): Evidence from Molecular (rps16 and trnT-F) and Morphological Data
TLDR
The results of both the morphological survey and phylogenetic analyses indicated a position of Rhopalobrachium fragrans in the tribe Vanguerieae and a close relationship with the Pacific genus Cyclophyllum. Expand
Phylogeny and classification of the subfamily Rubioideae (Rubiaceae)
TLDR
P phylogenetic analyses of the subfamily Rubioideae (Rubiaceae) based on three different pieces of chloroplast DNA, the protein coding rbcL gene, the spacer sequence betweenatpB andrbcL, and the recently published rps16 intron data are performed. Expand
Rare and enigmatic genera (Dunnia, Schizocolea, Colletoecema), sisters to species-rich clades: phylogeny and aspects of conservation biology in the coffee family.
TLDR
Phylogenetic, morphological, and geographical isolation of Dunnia, Schizocolea and Colletocema may indicate high genetic diversity and if extinct, the loss would not only mean loss of genetic diversity of a single species but of an entire lineage. Expand
The systematics of Knoxieae (Rubiaceae)—molecular data and their taxonomic consequences
TLDR
A molecular phylogeny of the Knoxieae group is presented and the morphological support for the resulting groups and the taxonomic consequences of the phylogeny are discussed. Expand
Molecular systematics of the Catesbaeeae-Chiococceae complex (Rubiaceae): flower and fruit evolution and biogeographic implications.
TLDR
A more detailed examination of the generic relationships within the Catesbaeeae-Chiococceae complex using two data sets, the nuclear ribosomal ITS regions and the trnL-F chloroplast intron and spacer lends further support to previous hypotheses that the CCC is monophyletic and sister to Strumpfia maritima. TLDR
Phylogenetic analysis of four chloroplast DNA regions revealed that the new genus is nested in the Spermacoceae alliance and is sister to Dunnia, and a new tribe, Foonchewieae R. J. Wang, is accordingly proposed. Expand
