Phylogenetic analyses and morphological characteristics were used to assess the taxonomic placement of eight plant-pathogenic Sclerotium species. Members of this genus produce only sclerotia and no fruiting bodies or spores, so Sclerotium species have been difficult to place taxonomically. Sequences of rDNA large subunit (LSU) and internal transcribed spacer (ITS) regions were determined for isolates of Sclerotium cepivorum, S. coffeicola, S. denigrans, S. hydrophilum, Ceratorhiza oryzae…
Phylogenetic Placement and Morphological Characterization of Sclerotium rolfsii (Teleomorph: Athelia rolfsii) Associated with Blight Disease of Ipomoea batatas in Korea
Abstract In this study, we aimed to characterize fungal samples from necrotic lesions on collar regions observed in different sweetpotato growing regions during 2015 and 2016 in Korea. Sclerotia
Morphology, pathogenicity and partial sequencing of rDNA region of Ceratorhiza hydrophila on rice from Iran.
TLDR
Results showed that C. hydrophila is closely related to Rhizoctonia species rather than other Sclerotium taxa, consistent with the morphology of colony and sclerotia of this fungus.
Sclerotium delphinii causing concentric leaf spots in Piper nigrum in Brazil
TLDR
This study is the first record of S. delphinii causing leaf spots on P. nigrum in Brazil and induces irregular necrotic lesions in the pathogenicity assay using detached leaves.
Notes, outline and divergence times of Basidiomycota
TLDR
Divergence times as additional criterion in ranking provide additional evidence to resolve taxonomic problems in the Basidiomycota taxonomic system, and also provide a better understanding of their phylogeny and evolution.
A preliminary report of aquatic hyphomycetes isolated from Anzali lagoon (Gilan province, North of Iran)
TLDR
Molecular studies using mainly ITS, LSU and SSU rDNA and in some cases β-tubulin (tub2) and translation elongation factor 1-a (tef1) determined the phylogenetic position of the isolates among closely related species.
Competing sexual-asexual generic names in Agaricomycotina (Basidiomycota) with recommendations for use
TLDR
Generic names of the Agaricomycotina (Basidiomycota) were evaluated to determine synonymy based on their type and recommendations are made for which generic name to use.
Sclerotium rolfsii, Penyebab Penyakit Busuk Pangkal Batang pada Hippeastrum sp.
TLDR
This is the first report of S. rolfsii infection in lily in Indonesia and the fungus had white mycelium and formed sclerotium, which was able to infect rain lilies and paris lilies, but not in spider lilies.
Taxonomic significance of anamorphic characteristics in the life cycle of coprinoid mushrooms.
TLDR
Mycelial characters of 15 coprini species from the clades Coprinellus (curtus, disseminatus, domesticus, ellisii, flocculosus, micaceus, radians and relatives, xanthothrix), Coprinopsis (cinerea, gonophylla, scobicola, strossmayeri), and Coprinus (comatus) were evaluated.

An approximation to the phylogeny of Sclerotinia and related genera
TLDR
It is concluded that Dumontinia, and Myriosclerotinia, as currently conceived, are monophyletic, and that Botryotinia along with Botrytis anamorphs probably also constitute a monophyletsic lineage.
Ribosomal DNA Sequence Divergence within Internal Transcribed Spacer 1 of the Sclerotiniaceae
TLDR
It is concluded that a substratal lineage cannot be discerned based on sequence data from the ITS, and one statistically strongly supported tree is produced for a group of species in the genus Rutstroemia, including Sclerotinia homoeocarpa.
Characterization and taxonomic placement of Rhizoctonia-like endophytes from orchid roots
TLDR
Twenty-one Rhizoctonia-like fungal strains were isolated from the roots of four terrestrial orchid species from various locations in Hong Kong and Habenaria dentata was found to form symbionts successfully with a Ceratorhiza isolate.
A Synopsis of the Taxonomy of Teleomorphs Connected with Rhizoctonia S.L.
TLDR
The teleomorphs of Rhizoctonia s.l. (as far as known) are now classified in various basidiomycete orders, and a natural concept, in which anamorph taxonomy reflects teleomorph taxonomy, is now also being adopted in Rhiz octonia.
Biology and Systematics of the form genus Rhizoctonia
TLDR
This review focuses on the knowledge of several aspects of the species of Rhizcotonia s.

Ribosomal DNA systematics of Ceratobasidium and Thanatephorus with Rhizoctonia anamorphs
TLDR
Although phylogenetic analysis of ITS sequences provided evidence that several AG of Ceratobasidium may be more closely related with some AG from Thanatephorus, these relationships were not as strongly supported by bootstrap analysis.
Molecular systematics and population biology of Rhizoctonia
TLDR
This review summarizes recent progress in understanding patterns of genetic Diversity revealed through application of molecular data, and the relation of genetic diversity to the taxonomy and population biology of Rhizoctonia.
Electrophoretic and Immunological Comparisons of Developmentally Regulated Proteins in Members of the Sclerotiniaceae and Other Sclerotial Fungi
TLDR
It is suggested that the Sclerotiniaceae may include two distinct lineages of genera, and stromatal proteins differ among different taxonomic groups of fungi, as demonstrated by characterized and compared two types of stromata.
