ABSTRACT Anomuran decapods in the family Aeglidae are ecologically and morphologically distinct from other members of the Galatheoidea (Galatheidae, Chirostylidae, Porcellanidae). Among the morphological characters distinguishing aeglids from other galatheoids are several characters seen in the hermit crab families (Paguroidea). The hypothesis that aeglids are members of the Paguroidea rather than the Galatheoidea was tested using numerical phenetic and cladistic methods. Fifty-four… Expand
PHYLOGENETIC RELATIONSHIPS AMONG THE SPECIES OF AEGLA (ANOMURA: AEGLIDAE) FRESHWATER CRABS FROM CHILE
TLDR
The phylogenies provide strong monophyletic support for the currently recognized species, with the exception of Aegla laevis and Aegla cholchol samples, which form nonmonophyletics groups. Expand
Phylogeny of the Anomura (Decapoda, Crustacea): Spermatozoa and spermatophore morphological evidence
A phylogenetic analysis of selected anomuran, thalassinidean, and other decapod crustacean taxa, based on spermatozoal ultrastructural characters and spermatophore morphological characters, wasExpand
Galatheoidea are not monophyletic - molecular and morphological phylogeny of the squat lobsters (Decapoda: Anomura) with recognition of a new superfamily.
The monophyletic status of the squat lobster superfamily Galatheoidea has come under increasing doubt by studies using evidence as diverse as larval and adult somatic morphology, spermExpand
A PHYLOGENY OF THE FAMILIES OF THALASSINIDEA (CRUSTACEA: DECAPODA) WITH KEYS TO FAMILIES AND GENERA
TLDR
A computer-aided phylogenetic analysis of the families has confirmed the monophyly of the infraorder, based largely on the unique possession of a setose lower margin to pereopod 2, and the Thalassinidea are divided into three superfamilies: Thalassinoidea and Callianassoidea, more closely related to each other than to Axioidea. Expand
Phylogenetic relationships within the Pylochelidae (Decapoda: Anomura: Paguroidea): A cladistic analysis based on morphological characters
TLDR
Phylogenetic relationships within the “symmetrical” hermit crab family Pylochelidae were analyzed and the subfamily Trizochelinae was found to have four distinct clades and several ambiguously placed taxa. Expand
ANNOTATED CHECKLIST OF ANOMURAN DECAPOD CRUSTACEANS OF THE WORLD (EXCLUSIVE OF THE KIWAOIDEA AND FAMILIES CHIROSTYLIDAE AND GALATHEIDAE OF THE GALATHEOIDEA) PART II - PORCELLANIDAE
TLDR
Annotated checklists of the world's Recent anomuran crustacean superfamilies Aegloidesa, Hippoidea, Porcellanidae and the crab-like Lithodoidea and Lomisoidea are presented and a collection of photographs depicting the variety exhibited by members of these taxa is enhanced. Expand
Endemic and enigmatic: the reproductive biology of Aegla (Crustacea: Anomura: Aeglidae) with observations on sperm structure
TLDR
This paper summarises this information based on study of the extensive preserved collections in the National Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian Institution, and on data from the literature, which includes female reproductive cycles, mating behavior, external reproductive morphology of males and females, and internal sexual behaviour of males. Expand
PHYLOGENETIC POSITION OF THE FRESHWATER ANOMURAN FAMILY AEGLIDAE
TLDR
The authors' results show a clear separation of the Aeglidae from the other galatheoid families, which form a sister group with the Paguroidea, which is revealed as the most basal taxon within the anomurans. Expand
Phylogeny of the Anomala (Crustacea, Decapoda, Reptantia) based on the ossicles of the foregut
TLDR
This study reveals two large clades within Anomala, one of which contains Aegla as sister group to a monophyletic group consisting of the Hippoidea and a clade formed by Lomis and the Paguroidea. Expand
Recent Advances and Confl icts in Concepts of Anomuran Phylogeny (Crustacea: Malacostraca)
TLDR
It is concluded that the Anomura remains today as much a source of discord as it was a century ago, and “confl icts” in analyses will continue to cloud the landscape until more basic, complete information is gathered for all members of this intriguing and varied infraorder. Expand

Phylogenetic and phenetic relationships among the lower decapoda
TLDR
Phenetic and cladistic methods were used to analyze relationships within the Decapoda, and the concept of the Natantia as a monophyletic group was rejected and the Stenopodidea was recognized as a taxon related to the Reptantia rather than to the Caridea. Expand
Some features in the morphology of Lomis hirta (lamarck) (Crustacea: Decapoda) and a discussion of its systematic position and phylogeny.
The external morphology of Lomis hirta is re-examined. It is shown that there are several major errors in the published descriptions, all of which omit the presence of large sixth pleopods (uropods)Expand
