The real photon decay, $\ensuremath{\gamma}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\nu}\overline{\ensuremath{\nu}}$, is calculated in strong magnetic fields ($H\ensuremath{\sim}{10}^{13}$ G) using a version of Schwinger's mass operator technique, which makes use of the explicit form of the electron Green's function. The reaction is kinematically allowed by an index of refraction less than one. This latter condition may arise either from quantum electrodynamics (high frequencies) or from the effects…

Nonlinear neutrino-photon interactions inside strong laser pulses

• Physics

A bstractEven though neutrinos are neutral particles and interact only via the exchange of weak gauge bosons, charged leptons and quarks can mediate a coupling to the photon field beyond tree level.

Generalized amplitude of an n-vertex one-loop process in a strong magnetic field

• Physics
• 2004
AbstractA general analysis of the amplitude for an n-vertex one-loop process in a strong magnetic field is performed by using the asymptotic form of the electron propagator in a field. With an eye to

In the presence of a thermal medium or an external electro-magnetic field, neutrinos can interact with photon, mediated by the corresponding charged leptons (real or virtual). The effect of a medium

Introduction to Axion Photon Interaction in Particle Physics and Photon Dispersion in Magnetized Media

Symmetries, global or local, always play an important role in the conceptual aspects of physics be in broken or unbroken phase. Spontaneous breaking of the continuous symmetries always generates

Nonlinear quantum electrodynamic and electroweak processes in strong laser fields

Various nonlinear electrodynamic and electroweak processes in strong plane-wave laser fields are considered with an emphasis on short-pulse effects. In particular, the momentum distribution of

Neutrino propagation in a weakly magnetized medium

• Physics
• 2004
Neutrino-photon processes, forbidden in vacuum, can take place in the presence of a thermal medium and/or an external electro-magnetic field, mediated by the corresponding charged leptons (real or

According to a tired-light cosmological model where H(z) = H(0) (1 + z), the number density of galaxies has been nearly constant over the last 10 Gyr, at least, meaning that, as far as galaxies are

Macroscopic Quantum Electrodynamics

Source theory(1) is an effective, nonspeculative attitude and framework in which to treat the interactions of quantum particles. It is a field theory without operators in which, as in classical field
