Photoconductive Switching of a Blumlein Pulser*

Abstract

A four-stage parallel-plate gas insulated Blumlein pulser is under construction. This 90-ohm 16-ns (FWHM) pulser, targeted for operation a~ 400 kV, will be switched by an array of photoconductors triggered by a 15-J, Nd:glass laser for a 1-to-2-ns rise time.
