The nature of DNA interactions with photoactivated gilvocarcin V has been analyzed at the gene level in both rRNA and dihydrofolate reductase genes of human fibroblasts, utilizing a modified Southern hybridization technique. Neither interstrand DNA crosslinking nor RNA linkage to DNA was detected.
