Carbon nanotubes CNTs are promising candidates to create new thermionicand photoemission materials. Intercalation of CNTs with alkali metals, such as potassium, greatly reduces their work functions, and the low electron scattering rates of small-diameter CNTs offer the possibility of efficient photoemission.
