C-type natriuretic peptide (CNP) binds the guanylyl cyclase-linked natriuretic peptide receptor B (NPR-B) and stimulates marked elevations of the intracellular signaling molecule, cGMP. Here, the essential role of phosphorylation in the hormonal activation and deactivation of this receptor is described.
