TAR DNA-binding protein-43 (TDP-43) pathology, which includes the presence of abnormal TDP-43-containing inclusions with a loss of nuclear TDP-43 in affected neurons, is a pathological hallmark of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and/or frontotemporal lobar degeneration (FTLD).
