1. Airway smooth muscle receives cholinergic, adrenergic and non-adrenergic, non-cholinergic (NANC) neural input. In guinea-pig airways cholinergic and NANC nerves provide contractile innervation, while adrenergic and NANC nerves provide relaxant pathways.
