Washed human platelets prelabeled with [14C]arachidonic acid and then exposed to the Ca2+ ionophore A23187 mobilized [14C]arachidonic acid from phospholipids and formed 14C-labeled thromboxane B2, 12-hydroxy-5-8,10-heptadecatrienoic acid, and 12-hydroxy-5,8,10,14-eicosatetraenoic acid.
