The vacuum of a large-N gauge field on a p-torus has a spatial stress tensor with tension along the direction of smallest periodicity and equal pressures (but p times smaller in magnitude) along the other directions, assuming an AdS/CFT correspondence and a refined form of the Horowitz-Myers positive-energy conjecture. For infinite N, the vacuum exhibits a phase transition when the lengths of the two shortest periodicities cross. A comparison is made with the Surya-Schleich-Witt phase…

### Holographic confinement/deconfinement phase transitions of AdS/QCD in curved spaces

• Physics

Recently Herzog has shown that deconfinement of AdS/QCD can be realized, in the hard-wall model where the small radius region is removed in the asymptotically AdS space, via a first order

### Phase transition of electrically charged Ricci-flat black holes

• Physics

We study phase transition between electrically charged Ricci-flat black holes and AdS soliton spacetime of Horowitz and Myers in five dimensions. Boundary topology for both of them is S1 × S1 × R2.

A bstractThis work addresses the response of a holographic conformal field theory to a homogeneous gravitational periodic driving. The dual geometry is the AdS-soliton, which models a strongly

### Large Brane Instability and Topologically Non-Trivial AdS Black Holes

Seiberg and Witten have discussed a specifically “stringy” kind of instability which arises in connection with “large” branes in asymptotically AdS spacetimes. It is easy to see that this instability

### Ricci flat black holes and Hawking-Page phase transition in Gauss-Bonnet gravity and dilaton gravity

• Physics
• 2007
It is well known that there exists a Hawking-Page phase transition between a spherical anti-de Sitter (AdS) black hole and a thermal AdS space. The phase transition does not happen between a Ricci

### Deconfinement Transition of AdS/QCD at ${\cal O}(\alpha'^3)$

• Physics
• 2007
We study the confinement/deconfinement phase transition of holographic AdS/QCD models by using Ricci flat $AdS_5$ black holes up to ${\cal O}(\alpha'^3)$, which corresponds to the $\lambda$ expansion

### dS/CFT, censorship, instability of hyperbolic horizons, and spacelike branes,” arXiv:hep-th/0205103

Cosmic Censorship relies on the validity of an energy condition, usually taken to be the Dominant Energy Condition. The dS/CFT correspondence furnishes a context in which the DEC can be deduced and

We present results supporting the Horowitz-Myers conjecture, that the Horowitz-Myers metrics minimize energy amongst metrics on the same spacetime manifold and with the same asymptotic behavior.
