A simple example of a phase transition process describing the isotropization of a universe of Bianchi type is outlined. Such a mechanism is induced by a seft-gravitating fluid, and it operates as described by Landau's phase transition. The expansion factor (the Hubble constant) plays the part of the control parameter as the temperature does for ordinary matter
