We introduce a simple model system to study synchronization theoretically in quantum oscillators that are not just in limit-cycle states, but rather display a more complex bistable dynamics. Our oscillator model is purely dissipative, with a two-photon gain balanced by single- and three-photon loss processes. When the gain rate is low, loss processes dominate and the oscillator has a very low photon occupation number. In contrast, for large gain rates, the oscillator is driven into a limit…

Metastable quantum entrainment

Quantum van der Pol oscillators are driven-dissipative systems displaying quantum synchronization phenomena. When forced by a squeezed drive, the frequency adjusts to half of the forcing displaying

We show that the threshold condition for two pump photons to convert into a pair of the sideband ones in Kerr microresonators with high-quality factors breaks the pump laser parameter space into a

Quantum Synchronization Blockade: Energy Quantization Hinders Synchronization of Identical Oscillators.

It is shown that this wisdom fails in the deep quantum regime, where the uncertainty of amplitude narrows down to the level of single quanta, and paves the way for investigations of new quantum synchronization phenomena in oscillator networks both theoretically and experimentally.

Quantum synchronization of a driven self-sustained oscillator.

This work investigates synchronization in the simplest quantum-mechanical scenario possible, i.e., a quantum- mechanical self-sustained oscillator coupled to an external harmonic drive, and shows that there is a steplike crossover to a synchronized state as a function of the driving strength.

Quantum Dynamics of a Few-Photon Parametric Oscillator

Modulating the frequency of a harmonic oscillator at nearly twice its natural frequency leads to amplification and self-oscillation. Above the oscillation threshold, the field settles into a coherent

Synchronization and bistability of a qubit coupled to a driven dissipative oscillator.

Numerically the behavior of a qubit coupled to a quantum dissipative driven oscillator (resonator) is studied, at certain parameters, the qubit exhibits tunneling between two orientations with a macroscopic change of the number of photons in the resonator.

Synchronization, quantum correlations and entanglement in oscillator networks

This work shows that synchronization between (even unlinked) nodes witnesses the presence of quantum correlations and entanglement, and can be induced between two different oscillators if properly linked to a random network.

Entanglement tongue and quantum synchronization of disordered oscillators.

The synchronization of dissipatively coupled van der Pol oscillators in the quantum limit is studied, when each oscillator is near its quantum ground state and the critical coupling increases with detuning.
