Phase competition and excitations in the one-dimensional neutral–ionic transition systems are theoretically studied comprehensively. From the semiclassical treatment of the bosonized Hamiltonian, we examine the competition among the neutral (N), ferroelectric-ionic (Iferro), and paraelectric-ionic (Ipara) states.
