Abstract 1. 1. Acetylcholine (ACh) 10 −7 increases the rate of beating of the isolated lamprey heart; with higher concentrations a tonotropic effect and a contracture of ventricle muscle are observed. 2. 2. The effect of ACh is reproduced by nicotinomimetics; muscarinomimetics are almost ineefective. Curare-like drugs are potent cholinolytics, but atropine and hexamethonium manifest poor cholinolytic activity. 3. 3.
