Toltrazuril (TZR) is a triazine-based antiprotozoal agent. Following a single oral administration of TZR at 10 and 20 mg/kg to male pigs, the mean TZR concentration in plasma peaked at 4.24 and 8.18 microg/ml at 15.0 and 12.0 hr post-dose, respectively. TZR absorbed was rapidly converted to the short-lived intermediary metabolite toltrazuril sulfoxide (TZR-SO), and then metabolized to the reactive toltrazuril sulfone (TZR-SO2). TZR-SO2 was actually more slowly eliminated, with average half…

Pharmacokinetics of toltrazuril and its metabolites toltrazuril sulphoxide and toltrazuril sulphone in pregnant and non-pregnant goats
The pharmacokinetic characteristics of toltrazuril (TZR) and its metabolites toltrazuril sulphoxide (TZR.SO) and toltrazuril sulphone (TZR.SO2) were assessed in non-pregnant and pregnant goats. Ten
Pharmacokinetics of toltrazuril and its metabolites in pregnant and nonpregnant ewes and determination of their concentrations in milk, allantoic fluid, and newborn plasma.
TLDR
Results of this study showed that toltrazuril is well absorbed after a single oral dose in ewes with widespread distribution in different body tissues.
The hydroxypropyl–β-cyclodextrin complexation of toltrazuril for enhancing bioavailability
TLDR
It can be concluded that the Tol-HP-β-CD increased the aqueous solubility and enhanced the oral bioavailability in rabbits.
PHARMACOKINETICS OF A SINGLE ORAL DOSE OF PONAZURIL IN THE INDIAN PEAFOWL (PAVO CRISTATUS)
TLDR
Ponazuril in peafowl was well absorbed orally, plasma concentrations increased with dose, and elimination was slower than current dosages for birds would suggest.
Simultaneous determination of toltrazuril and its metabolites in chicken and pig skin+fat by UPLC-UV method.
Pharmacokinetics and Metabolism of Toltrazuil and Its Major Metabolites after Oral Administration in Broilers
TLDR
This paper aims to provide a history of veterinary pharmacology and toxicology in the field of Nutraceutical and Pharmaceutical Materials in the Jeollanamdo region and its applications in modern and traditional medicine.

Detection, quantifications and pharmacokinetics of toltrazuril sulfone (Ponazuril) in cattle.
TLDR
Results are entirely consistent with and support the reported clinical efficacy of toltrazuril sulfone in the treatment of experimentally induced clinical cases of N. caninum and other protozoal-mediated bovine diseases.
Synthesis and detection of toltrazuril sulfone and its pharmacokinetics in horses following administration in dimethylsulfoxide.
TLDR
In present study, it was demonstrated that dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) increased the oral bioavailability of toltrazuril sulfone (Ponazuril) threefold, relative to oral administrations of toLTrazuric sulfone suspended in water.
The disposition of albendazole in sheep.
TLDR
Albendazole (ABZ) was administered intraruminally to sheep fitted with a permanent bile-duct cannula to determine if its metabolites might contribute to its flukicidal action and it is suggested that ABZ is sequestered in the liver.
Comparative plasma disposition kinetics of albendazole, fenbendazole, oxfendazole and their metabolites in adult sheep.
TLDR
While ABZSO declined relatively rapidly in plasma reaching non-detectable concentrations at 60 h post-ABZ administration, OFZ was found in plasma for up to 120 (FBZ treatment) and 144 h (OFZ treatment).
Preliminary Pharmacokinetics of Diclazuril and Toltrazuril in the Horse
TLDR
This pilot study suggests that diclazuril and toltrazuril are absorbed after oral administration and have longer plasma half-lives, which suggest readily maintained steady-state plasma concentrations.
In vitro metabolism of atrazine, terbuthylazine, ametryne, and terbutryne in rats, pigs, and humans.
TLDR
The in vitro metabolism of four s-triazine herbicides was studied using liver microsomes from rats, pigs, and humans and species-specific stereoselective formation of a new chiral isopropyl-hydroxylated metabolite from atrazine was investigated using chiral HPLC techniques.
Chemotherapy of human and animal coccidioses: state and perspectives
TLDR
The state and perspectives for chemotherapy of cyst-forming and non-cyst- forming coccidia in humans and animals are summarized and the increasing possibilities for vaccination may result in new aspects for the use of chemotherapeutics, i.e., new combinations and/or shuttle or rotation programs.
Toltrazuril effective against a broad spectrum of protozoan parasites
Toltrazuril, a sym. triazinone (Bay Vi 9142), has been reported to be highly effective against coccidia (Haberkorn and Stoltefuss 1984, 1987). In an electron microscopic study, Mehlhorn et al. (1984)

TLDR
A higher antibody titre in IFAT, immunoblot and ELISA correlates with a higher reduction in oocyst excretion, lesion scoring and increased weight gains in toltrazuril-treated animals.
