The properties of liposomes as a carrier for sustained release of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) was investigated. A mixture of egg-phosphatidylcholine/egg-phosphatidic acid, binding GnRH with high capacity, was used for preparation of GnRH-carrier liposomes, which were of the multilamellar type in most experiments. As test animals we used rabbits and pigs, the last mentioned for checking the LH4 response to GnRH-injections, which was via the i.m. route throughout in this investigation… Expand

Preparation and in vitro/in vivo evaluation of luteinizing hormone releasing hormone (LHRH)-loaded polyhedral and spherical/tubular niosomes.
TLDR
In vitro studies demonstrated that both polyhedral and spherical/tubular niosomes were more stable in 5% rat skeletal muscle homogenate than in rat plasma, and polyhedral niosome released more radiolabeled LHRH ([125I]LHRH) than spherical/ TubularNiosomes in both musclehomogenate and plasma. Expand
Slp-coated liposomes for drug delivery and biomedical applications: potential and challenges
TLDR
A general framework for the structure and characteristics of Slp and the interactions betweenSlp and liposomes is provided, to highlight the unique properties and drug delivery as well as the biomedical applications of the Slp-coated liposome, and to discuss the ongoing challenges and perspectives. Liposomes and biotherapeutics
TLDR
Enough of a research foundation exists to justify the conclusion that liposomes can play an important role in the formulation and delivery of biotherapeutic peptides and proteins, but it will be necessary to understand more fully the mechanisms of action before optimum liposomal dosage forms can be designed.
