Selegiline is beneficial to Parkinsonian patients as an adjunct to levodopa therapy. A sensitive flourimetric assay based on inhibition of rat brain monoamine oxidase-B (MAO-B) in vitro has been developed to study the pharmacokinetics of selegiline.
