BACKGROUND Hospital pharmacists around the world are becoming increasingly involved in promoting the responsible use of medicines through clinical pharmacy services. This is reflected in the Basel Statements developed by the International Pharmaceutical Federation Hospital Pharmacy Section, particularly the theme 'Influences on Prescribing.'
