We study the properties of cosmological density perturbations in a multi-component system consisting of a scalar field and a perfect fluid. We discuss the number of degrees of freedom completely describing the system, introduce a full set of dynamical gauge-invariant equations in terms of the curvature and entropy perturbations, and display an efficient formulation of these equations as a first-order system linked by a fairly sparse matrix. Our formalism includes spatial gradients, extending…

Evolution of gravitational perturbations in non-commutative inflation

We consider the non-commutative inflation model in which it is the unconventional dispersion relation for regular radiation which drives the accelerated expansion of space. In this model, we study

Two-field warm inflation and its scalar perturbations on large scales

We explore the homogeneous background dynamics and the evolution of generated perturbations of cosmological inflation that is driven by multiple scalar fields interacting with a perfect fluid. Then we

Cosmological perturbations for imperfect fluids

Interacting fluids, endowed with bulk viscous stresses, are discussed in a unified perspective with the aim of generalizing the treatment of cosmological perturbation theory to the case where both

The Nature of Primordial Perturbations in the Light of CMB Observations

The universe is filled with nearly isotropic cosmic microwave background (CMB) radiation, which has a blackbody spectrum of temperature T ≈ 2.73K. In addition, there are tiny direction dependent

Dark Energy Simulations

Adiabatic and entropy perturbations with interacting fluids and fields

We develop a gauge-invariant formalism for the study of density perturbations in a Friedmann–Robertson–Walker universe with multiple interacting fluids and/or scalar fields. We show how N scalar

On the spherical collapse model in dark energy cosmologies

We study the spherical collapse model in dark energy cosmologies, in which dark energy is modelled as a minimally coupled scalar field. We first follow the standard assumption that dark energy does

Dynamics of dark energy

We review in detail a number of approaches that have been adopted to try and explain the remarkable observation of our accelerating universe. In particular we discuss the arguments for and recent

A new parametrization of dark energy equation of state leading to double exponential potential

We show that a phenomenological form of energy density for the scalar field can provide the required transition from decelerated (q > 0) to accelerated expansion (q < 0) phase of the universe. We

TLDR
It is argued that a number of models in which the energy density of the scalar field red-shifts in a specific manner are studied could reconcile the low dynamical estimates of the mean mass density with the negligibly small spatial curvature preferred by inflation.

Perturbation evolution in cosmologies with a decaying cosmological constant

Structure formation models with a cosmological constant are successful in explaining large-scale structure data, but are threatened by the magnitude-redshift relation for type Ia supernovae. This has

Early time perturbations behavior in scalar field cosmologies

We consider the problem of the initial conditions and behaviour of the perturbations in scalar field cosmology with general potential. We use the general definition of adiabatic and isocurvature

A Classification of scalar field potentials with cosmological scaling solutions

An attractive method of obtaining an effective cosmological constant at the present epoch is through the potential energy of a scalar field. Considering models with a perfect fluid and a scalar

Perturbations in a coupled scalar field cosmology

I analyse the density perturbations in a cosmological model with a scalar field coupled to ordinary matter, such as one obtains in string theory and in conformally transformed scalar–tensor theories.

Gauge Invariant Cosmological Perturbations

The physical interpretation of perturbations of homogeneous, isotropic cosmological models in the early Universe, when the perturbation is larger than the particle horizon, is clarified by defining a

Adiabatic and entropy perturbations from inflation

We study adiabatic ~curvature! and entropy ~isocurvature! perturbations produced during a period of cosmological inflation that is driven by multiple scalar fields with an arbitrary interaction

Extended quintessence

We study Quintessence cosmologies in the context of scalar-tensor theories of gravity, where a scalar field φ , assumed to provide most of the cosmic energy density today, is non-minimally coupled to

Gauge-invariant initial conditions and early time perturbations in quintessence universes

We present a systematic treatment of the initial conditions and evolution of cosmological perturbations in a universe containing photons, baryons, neutrinos, cold dark matter, and a scalar
